Independent Strategy

I'm back with a dose of open-ended space gaming- this time around though it's all about space war. The game is called Galaxy Unfurled, by Fractalsmith Games . This is a 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate) RTS space game with many options to offer the player. The user manual that comes with it does not make the game seem too difficult, however, depending on the level of difficulty you are playing- well, you can have alot to deal with.

Here is my bottom line- for those gamers that have not given a 4X game a try- this is an excellent starting point. For seasoned gamers that have limited amounts of time to play- this is an easy game to jump in-and-out of; Galaxy Unfurled is a "busy" game meaning there is alot to do, but it is not overwhelming.

As for myself, I fell in love with this Indie game because of it's no-frills "here I am, play me!" attitude. Do not go into this game expecting visuals on the level of Homeworld or Masters of Orion- they are not here. Instead, the graphics are more akin to good 'ol Dune/Dune 2000, though in space and land. For those with a fondness for that RPG classic (Dune) and with just as much playability, you will not be disappointed! With playability like that, well, just wait until you see the asking price- you just cannot go wrong!

'Nuff said.
